The Rave Slot Review
When starting this The Rave Slot review, we hoped this game would be a nostalgic trip back to the 90s when raves were raves, and it was all about the music and good glowsticks times. By definition, a rave is an all-night warehouse party with techno music, but with a motto from the outset of "get ready to rave to the grave", we see that Nolimit City's The Rave Slot takes the genre in a somewhat different direction. But what else can we expect from a game studio that likes to shock, move the goalposts and one that dares to be controversial?
The Rave Slot Introduction
No rave is complete without a lineup of legendary DJs, and in this game, we join DJ P5ychØ Manhunt, who's churning out the bass on the decks. DJ P5ychØ Manhunt is a character we've all seen before, for he is Joe Labrador from Nolimit City's San Quentin Slot. Perhaps The Rave Slot is a prequel to the San Quentin slot and is why P5ychØ Manhunt was incarcerated: for throwing out some wicked and deadly beats or maybe inciting murder on the dance floor? (Sorry, we couldn't help ourselves with that cheap pun!).
Or perhaps he's just been released and decided to leave the criminal world for the DJ world? Whatever the reason, we love that Nolimit City intertwines various characters in their slots so that you begin to know who these (often unsightly) characters are and what their life story is.

It's advisable at this point to give the game rules a once over and view the paytable to get to grips on how this game works and which are the highest paying symbols and combinations. Sometimes it's easier to read our slot reviews, though; often, slots can seem hard to follow, but usually, that's just superficial, and besides, we do an excellent job of breaking down and explaining features, how to win and how everything works in our slot game reviews (even if we do say so ourselves). Once all sorted and you're ready - it's time to play The Rave Online Slot!
The Rave Slot Features
The Rave Slot is set in a large, dark warehouse space with pink hues, bright lights, and people dancing (there's even a Deadmau5-esque character in the background). Above the reels is DJ P5ychØ Manhunt playing the decks. Obviously, with a music theme, the soundtrack of this slot needs to be good, and it is. It's a perfect blend of dance, house, techno and trance tunes, which sets the mood.
The Rave slot is designed with five reels, three rows and a 243 ways to win payline structure. Winning combinations will be formed when 3, 4 or 5 identical symbols appear on consecutive reels, in any position and starting from the leftmost reel.
Symbols on the reels include most items you associate with a rave: sunglasses, headphones, lollipops, money spray guns and a DJ P5ychØ Manhunt 'King' gold necklace and pendant. The higher value symbols include a party girl, a rave Granny with dreadlocks, a raver guy that looks very much like the late Keith Flint (frontman of UK dance band The Prodigy), Jesus (well, is God a DJ?) and Joe Labrador/DJ P5ychØ Manhunt which is the best paying symbol with 3, 4 or 5 of them awarding wins of x0.5, x0.75 or x6 your total bet.
The Wild symbol in this slot is the Hippy yellow flowers, which substitute for all symbols mentioned above. Other symbols include xWays, xSplit Wild and Drop the Bass Scatter symbols, which trigger the many in-game features we explore below.
On the subject of features, The Rave Slot is equipped with more or less the same amount of features as your typical Nolimit Slot, in the case of this slot, there are nine features in total, which is the norm for Nolimit City slots, but a bit higher than average for most other well-known game studios.
Drop the Bass
The Drop the Bass Scatter can land on any reel in the base game. When you land 2 of the Drop the Bass scatters, you will trigger the Drop the Bass feature. Here, the Scatters will activate the symbols to transform into Enhancer Cells:
- 3 Scatters: Activates 7 Murder on the Dance Floor Free Spins
- 4 Scatters: Activates 8 Murder on the Dance Floor Free Spins
- 5 Scatters: Activates 10 God is a DJ Free Spins
When you land two Scatter symbols during the main game, the Enhancer Cells will land one of the following symbols:
|xWays||Reveals 2-6 symbols of the same type and will expand the height of the reel. It will also reveal any paying symbol. If more than one xWays symbol lands, then all xWays symbols will display the same symbol.|
|xSplit Wild||These are special Wilds, as seen in some other Nolimit City slots like xWays Hoarder xSplit. Each symbol on the reel is doubled, and then the xSplit Wilds splits itself into two wilds.|
|Wild||A regular Wild symbol.|
|Character Symbols||A higher-paying symbol.|
Double xWays Wild Feature
When you land two xWays symbols on the same reel, you will trigger the Double xWays Wild feature, and an expanded xWays Wild is created on that very same reel. The stacked Wild contains between 6 and 11 Wild symbols. If you land a full screen of xWays Wilds, you will activate the 'Busted' sequence feature, which means you have won the max win of x41,500 your bet.
Murder On The Dance Floor Feature
We can't write this section without the Sophis Ellis Baxter song coming into our heads, but in this game, The Murder on the Dance Floor feature is a lucrative feature to trigger. It's activated when 3 or 4 Drop the Bass Scatters land on the reels, giving you 7 or 8 free spins and 3 or 4 Enhancer Cells, respectively. The Enhancer Cells are located on the bottom row and are active for every Free Spins during the feature.
Once started, a symbol multiplier will appear on reels 2, 3 and 4. This is triggered whenever a character symbol lands in the Enhancer Cells. Look out for xSplit symbols landing on any of the three middle reels, as it'll increase the symbol multiplier of that reel by 2.
Also, in this feature, there's a chance to trigger three random bonus features, which are: Mashup!, Crossfader and Sidechain:
|Mashup!||Turns all character symbols into the highest paying symbol (which is the DJ P5ychØ Manhunt symbol)|
|Crossfader||Transforms all low-paying symbols into Wilds randomly on reels 2, 3 and 4.|
|Sidechain||2 to 5 reels are linked and will display the same symbols for bigger win potential.|
God Is A DJ Feature
A nod to the infamous dance hit "God is a DJ" by electronic house super group Faithless, God is a DJ is a lucrative feature to land. In this feature, five Enhancer Cells pose on the bottom row of each free spin. Only Premiums, xWays, Wilds, or xSplits will be revealed. The symbol multiplier is active and behaves the same way as in the Murder on the Dance Floor free spins feature we mentioned above. One difference is that one of the Mashup!, Sidechain, or Crossfader modifiers (see section above) will trigger on each spin.
As briefly mentioned above, the maximum payout of The Rave Slot is x41,500 your bet. If you get to this stage, you'll see a sequence where the police bust DJ DJ P5ychØ Manhunt and is presumably escorted back, we assume, to San Quentin Prison. The set list too illegal, perhaps?
Nolimit Bonus Feature
Like many other Nolimit City online slots, The Rave Slot features a Nolimit Bonus feature which is sadly unavailable to UK slot players due to UKGC licensing conditions. However, for those playing outside of the UK, you will be able to enjoy this feature which is essentially a bonus buy feature.
The Nolimit Bonus feature allows you to buy your way into various The Rave bonus features - for a cost, of course. The Nolimit Bonus feature costs between x68 and x522 your stake. To activate this feature, you must click on the yellow star icon. Here's what they deliver:
- 68 x bet Murder on the Dance Floor (7 free spins) 96.2%
- 140 x bet Murder on the Dance Floor (8 free spins) 96.27%
- 522 x bet God is a DJ (10 free spins) 96.47%
- 202 x bet Lucky Draw 96.33%
Maximum Win Potential & Jackpot
The Rave Slot offers good winning potential with max wins of x41,500 your bet, which is likely to be achieved within 1 in 5 million spins. That may sound a lot, but it isn't when you think of how many people around the globe are playing it. But if we break that down even further, winning x100 your total stake will occur approximately once every 725 spins and activating the free spins will happen every 198 spins - but make sure that you keep in mind that we are talking on average. It's not a guarantee.
💡 To win the maximum prize when playing The Rave Slot, you'll need to trigger the Busted sequence in the base game with five expanded xWays Wilds or from the two free spins features.
The Rave Slot RTP % & Variance
Does it surprise you that The Rave slot is highly volatile? Us neither. Nolimit City is famed for its ultra-high variance slots, and we believe this game studio caters to a specific audience. Those looking for bigger thrills than mainstream online slots will feel at home here. Being a slot with high volatility means that big wins will be harder to achieve, but when they are, they will be on the larger side of the equation. This is important to note for those looking for a slot to play but have a smaller bankroll or those who prefer to see regular but smaller wins. Overall, winning combinations will occur approximately every 3.89 spins as the hit frequency rate for the Rave Slot is 25.66%.
Furthermore, The Rave Slot has an RTP of 96.09%, which is just about average for an online slot. 61.72% of that comes from the base game and 34.34% from the bonus features.
The Rave Mobile Slot
Nolimit City are leaders in mobile slots. The Rave Slot has been made with mobile in mind; after all, over half of online slot players prefer to play casino games and slots with ease on their mobile or tablet. Playing at online casinos is about maximum entertainment, so comfort is a factor here too - which is why mobile devices are generally preferred for gameplay.
If you plan to play The Rave Slot on mobile, you'll experience nothing short of a top-quality mobile slot. The game is easy to load, and the design is intended for the smaller screen. Ensure you play at a casino that does the mobile slot game justice - most top casinos offer premium mobile versions, but not all mobile casinos are of the same calibre. All of the casinos we recommend below are premium when it comes to mobile gaming.
The Rave Slot Review - Our Verdict
Like most Nolimit City slots, The Rave is intriguing and packed with exciting features to keep things highly entertaining and energetic. The little nuances (such as the "Tripping" or the "Chillin'" screen when you land wins) you see whilst playing are a great touch, from design and graphics to the perfectly fitting soundtrack, all make for a fascinating experience.
Compared to other DJ/Music themed slots, this game is not like Elk Studios DJ Wild Slot; the Rave Slot has the hallmarks of a Nolimit City slot evident in many of their newer games. Whilst The Rave is a dance-themed game, it still bears some grittiness and back story that gives off the odd sensation.
💗 But let's talk turkey; this game does offer some decent wins. There's no progressive jackpot available in The Rave Slot, but wins are available up to x41,500 your stake which the free spins features can achieve.
To conclude, we think that NoLimit City has done it again. They've set the bar incredibly high. Their games are always different, not just in features but in the experience and feeling they conjure when playing. All in all, this game is well worth a spin, just for the experience alone. It might be too loud for some, but we will let you be the judge of that.
